A Day before the Final Exam

“Alarm! People! The final exam is around the corner. One week  to go before our death penalty! What can we do?”

“Don’t be panic! Just follow your heart!”

As a result, my heart tells me,

“Go and watch a movie! You earn

it!” Therefore, before the final exam,

I decided to watch a movie called

Onward” with my friends.

Onward is an animation movie produced by Pixar with the                                  same crew as the famous animation, “Coco.” If you                             have known “Coco,” you may have guessed how                                 “Onward” is gonna be. “Onward” is also a heart                                       touching movie like “Coco” with splendid and excited                           adventures. In short, the story is about a pair of elf                               brothers who loses their father in a young age. On                               the younger brother’s sixteen-year-old birthday, their                           mom gives them a letter from their dad telling them

a magic spell which can bring their dad back for one day. In order to meet their dad again, they start their venture upon finding the Phoenix Gem.

         After watching this movie,

I have to say the plot is actually

an old cliche, but it’s still an

alluring and charming movie

for me. As the plot goes like

platitude, at the same time, It

evokes all my childhood

memories. Those irrational plots

and fancy imaginations are distant from me for too long. It’s really good to see those ridiculous characters to act bold for me. It has                                            been a long time that I don’t talk about                                                   those unreal daydreams anymore. In the                                               reality, we don’t have such a magic world                                               where can cast all the glooms away for us.                                           After all, we still have to face the difficulties                                             by ourselves. However, it’s indispensable for                                           us to maintain a heart of innocence,                                                       passion, and sometimes a little bit of                                                      craziness.

“So, you mean we can throw away those                                               annoying books even if we have the final                                               exam?”

“Well… I didn’t say that…, but if you insist, you still……” (I’m not gonna let her finish her words.😊)

Lately, I have been reading a book written by 村上春樹 called “Kafka on the Shore.” This book

is about a fifteen-year-old boy

who escapes from his home

and tries to avoid the destiny of

the curse. The author wrote the

book in a metaphorical way. He

leaves lots of uncertainty in the

book. When you are reading this

book, those sentences seem to

mean something, but you don’t really know what it means. The surrealistic expression makes the book imaginary and illusory. As a reader, I really enjoy the way the author tells the story. I can interpret the content based on my own imagination. Although I can’t really understand what the core of this book is, or maybe I have to spend years to understand the book, I still enjoy this book very much.

Through these two works which are totally different, I found a corner of peace. Whenever I get bored or feel sad, I can turn to them and take a break from the reality. The power of words and movie can heal my monotonous life.

The super expensive lunch I ate before watching the movie.

The beautiful hallway in that theater.
